UVO at Talybont-on-Usk Annual Show

Thankfully the rain held off on August Bank Holiday Saturday and the sun shone for the Talybont-on-Usk Show held at the Henderson Hall and adjoining sports field.

Janet Hoskin had provided and set up a very professional-looking exhibition board and table along with a great quiz to engage children and, thus, their parents. The team brought along a variety of osprey-related books; photographs were kindly provided by Peter Seaman plus some also from the nest-cam.

After some minor technical challenges which entailed piggy-backing a laptop with a mobile ‘phone, it was possible to provide continuous live feed of the nest. Luckily the ospreys were very active in the afternoon returning to the nest, enabling many visitors to see them in action.

It was well worth attending the Show as there was a steady stream of interested adults and children many of them scanning the QR code and, hopefully, resulting in more recruits and expanding awareness.

All in all, a great Usk Valley osprey promotional exercise! Thanks to everyone for their contributions and hard work on the day.
